Matthew Hunsberger
Bass :
Matthew's musical career started in kindergarten when he began to study violin. He studied for 11 years before shifting his focus to vocal music when he moved away from home to study at Eastern Mennonite High School in Harrisonburg, VA.
After High School, Matthew went on to study music with a vocal performance concentration at Eastern Mennonite University. He also minored in Theater, acting in five shows during his college career. After his graduation, in the summer of 2002 he acted and served as music director in the VBMHC production of Jordan's Stormy Banks, and in Fall, 2003, he directed the band for EMU's production of Godspell.
He currently works at Eastern Mennonite University as Lehman Auditorium Facilities Technician and adjunct faculty in the Music Department as assistant director of the Chamber Singers. He continues to take voice lessons and courses in the Church Music concentration. He enjoys finding opportunities to perform as well.
His love for male a cappella singing began back at EMHS where he first sang in a male quartet. He has since sung in several other male a cappella ensembles, ably co-leading a ten-member group, Full Table from May 2000 to May 2002.
Matthew and his three brothers and two sisters grew up on a dairy farm in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, where his parents currently own a bed and breakfast, which has probably contributed to his hobby of raising and growing things. He enjoys keeping fish and as many plants as his apartment will hold.
